Mother’s Day is all about celebrating the incredible women in our lives – and what better way to show your appreciation than with a lovingly assembled Snowdonia Cheese Co brunch board? It’s an effortlessly easy way to bring the family together for a joyfully lazy morning. Pour Mum her favourite brew and make Mother’s Day extra special with this how-to guide.
Choose a trio of cheese flavours
A well-balanced cheese selection offers a variety of textures and flavours. This board features Black Bomber, Bouncing Berry and Truffle Trove, but you can use whichever cheeses your mum loves the most. Cutting them in various ways adds texture and interest – we love the contrast between wedges, cubes and crumbles.
Slice freshly baked croissants
These flaky, buttery French pastries are a brunch-time classic and the perfect “carb hit” for this morning board. Serve them whole or – for easier sharing – cut them into halves or slices. Warming them slightly before serving will give their melt-in-the-mouth texture an extra boost.
Select some savoury charcuterie
Select some good-quality, finely sliced cooked ham – a traditional, milder choice that always pairs well with a variety of cheeses. Or, for a bolder option, try slivers of salami for a richer, more piquant bite. Fold the sliced meats into delicate ribbons or rosettes for instant aesthetic appeal.
Add a scattering of fresh fruits
A mix of vibrant, fresh fruits, arranged in small clusters, brings balance and freshness to the board – and, of course, adding Mum’s favourite fruit will make the board even more special. Our own brunch-board picks include kiwi, for a bright green burst of tangy sweetness; soft and refreshing melon or pineapple; orange slices for citrus zing; and strawberries, blueberries and raspberries for natural sweetness and pops of colour.
Don’t forgot your condiments
No Snowdonia Cheese Co sharing board would be complete without a chutney or three. For this one, we’ve selected our Fig & Apple, Balsamic Caramelised Onion and Rhubarb & Gin chutneys as sweet-and-savoury pairings for our award-winningly creamy Cheddars. In addition, a generous spoonful of jam is ideal for spreading on the croissants or serving with cheese – and a drizzle of honey makes a tasty addition to the rich and earthy flavours of Truffle Trove, our luxurious extra mature Cheddar infused with Black Summer truffle. Serve the chutneys, jam and honey in small ramekins or mini bowls, artfully positioned around the board.
Garnishes: the finishing touch
Fresh herbs such as rosemary, thyme and mint add a splash of green and a fresh aroma to your platter, while edible flowers add a touch of elegance.
